Our approach

Use this page as a clear starting point, then move to the destination guides and practical resources that match your trip.

Last updated: October 2026

Our editorial principles

  1. Reader first. Our recommendations are chosen because they serve the traveler, not because they pay us.
  2. Accuracy over volume. We publish fewer pages and keep them current rather than publishing many pages we cannot maintain.
  3. Transparency. We tell you how we know what we know, and where our information is uncertain.

How we research

We build our guides from a combination of:

  • My first-hand knowledge of Morocco (born in Casablanca, almost ten years working in the country’s culinary sector) and my own trips back, most recently in July 2025
  • Recent first-hand reports from my wife, who traveled in Morocco (most recently in May 2026) and shared daily observations during her trips
  • Official sources (ticket offices, transport operators, venue websites)
  • Traveler reports and our readers’ corrections

We label which type of source a claim comes from where it matters.

How we verify prices and practical details

Prices, opening hours, and transport details change often. Each time-sensitive detail carries one of four labels:

  • ๐ŸŸข Verified โ€” Checked directly on the date shown (“Last checked: Month Year”)
  • ๐ŸŸฃ Reported โ€” Reported by a trusted person who was on the ground, with the month of the trip (e.g. “Reported May 2026”)
  • ๐ŸŸก Approximate โ€” A typical range based on our research (e.g. “70โ€“150 MAD”)
  • ๐Ÿ”ด Variable โ€” Depends on season, demand or negotiation; use as a rough guide only

Every guide shows a “Last reviewed” date. We review our main guides every 6 months and after any major change we become aware of.

How we choose recommendations (riads, restaurants, tours, services)

We recommend a place or service only if:

  • It is consistently well reviewed by independent travelers across multiple sources
  • It is a fair choice for the budget level and traveler type we describe
  • Where we have stayed, eaten or used it ourselves, we say so

Affiliate links and commissions

When you book a riad, tour, transfer, rail pass, eSIM or insurance through certain links on this site, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This helps fund our research.

  • Affiliate relationships do not decide which places we recommend or how we rate them.
  • We do not accept payment to be listed or ranked higher.
  • Affiliate links are marked wherever they appear. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Digital planners and products

Our planners and checklists are paid or free products from Visits Morocco. They cover the same destinations as our free guides, with a ready-made, step-by-step plan (itinerary, budget, maps, checklists). Free guides stay free.

Independence and sponsorship

  • If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled as such.

Corrections and updates

We make mistakes, and Morocco changes quickly. If you spot an error:

  1. Email contact@visitsmorocco.com with the page and what is wrong.
  2. We check it and fix it, usually within 5 business days.
  3. For significant corrections, we add a note at the top of the page with the date.

Safety and sensitive topics

Our safety, health and legal information is general travel guidance, not professional advice. Check official government travel advisories and local conditions before you travel.
